This year the World Beat Festival is celebrating Turtle Island; the indigenous peoples of North and South America! Come to Riverfront Park where you can experience the music, dance, food and traditions of over 60 nations and cultures. Things kick off with a Children’s Parade at 9:45 am on Saturday and will continue until Sunday evening. Check out the website here for more information. Community Day in the Park (formerly Citizens Day) is an annual summer event hosted by the City of St. Helens in McCormick Park. Community Day is a day focused on making and strengthening community connections. It’s an opportunity for people to put down their cell phones, turn off the television, and enjoy a day of fun in a local park with friends and family. Activities are family-friendly, free, and designed for a wide age-range. Yearly activities include a free barbeque lunch, live music, lawn games, vendors, and more. Join ODDS leadership on Zoom to share your feedback and experiences. All are welcome to attend these virtual meetings. Each month will have a different topic or focus. They meet every first Wednesday of the month from noon to 1 p.m. No registration required. These events are facilitated by the Partnership and Accessibility Resource Unit. Date: July 2nd Time: noon to 1 p.m. How to attend: Use this link to open the Zoom meeting. They also invite you to send your questions or feedback ahead of time using the feedback form. You can fill it out in Arabic, English, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Spanish and Vietnamese. Deadline: Please send your questions by 8 a.m. on the Monday before the meeting. You don’t have to submit a question to attend the meeting. You can also ask new questions during the meeting. If they can’t answer your question during the meeting, a staff member will get back to you via email. If you want privacy, you can also ask them to respond by email.

Friday, July 11 | Northgate Park: 4575 Fairhaven Ave Ne Salem OR 97301 A community resource event full of tables, activities and food! Each event is from 4pm - 7:30pm and locations vary each week.
A weekend filled with competition, camaraderie, celebration, and sportsmanship. The Summer State Games are the state championships for athletics (track & field), bocce, golf, and softball for Special Olympics athletes in Oregon. This is a great chance to cheer on your fellow athletes and watch some amazing games! All athletes and Unified partners train in their hometowns for a minimum of eight weeks and qualify to compete at the Summer State Games through regional-level competitions held around the state. This will take place in Corvallis Oregon, at OSU and surrounding venues. Delegates are housed in the campus dorms at Oregon State University. Special events will include Olympic Town festival areas, health screenings, Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg, the parade of athletes + opening ceremonies, a victory dance, and a Saturday night delegates dinner. More specific details and daily schedules will be shared as the event nears. Check out the event website to stay up to date. This event takes hundreds of volunteers to make it run smoothly!
