This focused session helps individuals with IDD develop essential planning tools: a One-page profile summarizing who you are and what's important to you, and a Goal Sheet outlining your dreams. The Profile Power event is not just about creating documents; it is about building a foundation for effective communication and personal growth. Participants will be guided through each step of the process, with support from trained facilitators who understand the unique challenges faced by individuals with IDD.   • The ARC Self-Advocate Convention (Salem)

    The ARC's second annual Self-Advocate Convention of Oregon is happening in Salem, OR June 11th-June 13th. This event is planned by advocates for advocates and their supporters. The schedule will include guest speakers, small group conversations, and networking time. Plus, they’ll have fun social activities like a karaoke party and group meals. This month, they will bring in a local fitness expert with an engaging, interactives session designed to get you moving and grooving, no matter where you are on your fitness path.   • Disaster Preparedness for Parents with Disabilities Webinar (Virtual)

    People with disabilities are often excluded from conversations about emergency preparedness. This includes parents with disabilities who need to keep themselves and their children safe during a disaster. Join Brandeis University as they learn from Shari Myers and Melissa Marshall from the Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies. They will discuss emergency preparedness best practices for disabled parents and their families. Shari and Melissa will talk about building a realistic emergency kit, sheltering in place while disabled, and knowing your rights as a disabled person during a disaster. Attendees will also hear from two National Research Center for Parents with Disabilities' Advisory Board members, Judy Brown and Morénike Giwa-Onaiwu, about their personal experiences with emergency preparedness and disaster response. They will be providing ASL and Zoom automated captions. For any other accommodations, please contact us at lurie@brandeis.edu as soon as possible.
