  • Tsunami 101 (Lincoln City and Newport)

    Join a free, two-hour session of expert-driven discussion and practical steps you can take to stay safe before, during, and after a disaster! Lincoln City and Lincoln County Emergency Management has partnered with The Oregon Dept of Emergency Management (OEM), Oregon Dept of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) and the National Weather Service (NWS) to provide a comprehensive overview of earthquakes and tsunamis. This session will feature expert-led presentations on the science behind earthquakes and tsunamis, how alerts are triggered and broadcasted, and what you can do now to be better prepared when a disaster strikes. There will be time for questions and open discussion after the presentations—so bring your curiosity and take advantage of this opportunity to learn from the experts and connect with the people working to keep Oregon safe. There will be two sessions on this day: Driftwood Library Community Room, Lincoln City -  11am - 1pm Oregon Coast Community College Community Room, Newport, 6pm - 8pm
